E. Vane

E. Vane works in a single medium and a single subject, to which the artist has committed entirely.

Vane's practice concerns valuation. The work itself — oil-primed canvas on the artist's stretcher — is deliberately without incident, so that nothing distracts from the price. Critics have described the oeuvre as "consistent." The artist does not disagree.

Vane does not give interviews, attend openings, or explain the work. The gallery considers this discretion central to the practice.

Identical (2026), the artist's first exhibition with Snobby's, comprises six works. They are the same work. The prices are not.

The Rainbow (2026), the artist's second series, comprises seven works in seven colours, released one at a time in the order Newton prescribed. Each is priced according to the history of its pigment — the cows, the snails, the arsenic — and the artist has indicated that there will be no further colours.

Selected distinctions

The artist's works are held in a number of private collections. The gallery does not discuss which, or whether the collectors are aware.
